Hi Janice, having read all the posts on the Lamon/Lamons forum, I have determined that you have the most info., therefore this reply. My name is Larry Lemming and I have traced my line to e. Tenn. in the 1820's and 30's. My ggg-grandfather was Levi Leming, also spelled Lemon/Lemmon/Lemons/Laman. This doesn't tell me much until we get to the part where Levi migrated to the Huntsville, Ala. area by way of the Tenn. River in the late 1830's (probably dodging being sent to Oklahoma for being part indian). They lived there for 3 years had 2 children then moved to Rome, Ga. where most of us are today. Long story, short question. Do you have any info on Levi Lamon or any other corruption of the name in your area in the late 1830's or early 40's. We have nothing before Levi. Your help would be appreciated. Thank you, Larry Lemming [email protected]
