Hello! I notice we share the same name. Although my full name is George Thomas Lamme, Tom has always been my "real" name. I am of the branch that pronounces Lamme as in the animal and have never spoken with the Lamee side. I am a decendent of William Lamme of Hugenot ancestry. William landed in Virginia circa ( Augusta County )1743, arriving from the North of Ireland after leaving the Netherlands where the family fled during the persecution of Protestants.
William apparently brought his wife, Anna and by her they had sons, Samuel, James, William, Nathaniel and David and at least one daughter who later married David laird who fought in the Revolutionary War with Nathaniel. There could be at least two other daughters and two other sons by William's second wife (unknown name) who produce sons Jesse and Jonathan. (Jesse could be the name of the 2nd wife)
My branch is from Nathaniel, a Rev. War footsoldier 1777-1779. He was granted land in 1779 in what is now Ohio near Bellbrook. He died in 1797 producing heirs. Josiah, William, Samuel, David, James and daughters Annie and Martha.
My branch descends from William, born in Ky. and moved to Ohio with family in 1799 to near Xenia, then to Sangamon County. Ill. in 1832, finally dying in Burlington. Iowa in 1860. William married a Ruth Boyer who produced a son, William b.Feb.14, 1814 d. Nov.6, 1886. William Jr. moved in 1818 to sangamon co. Ill and to Nauvoo, Ill. in 1832 and finally to Danville, Iowa in 1836. William Jr. married Hattie Elliot in 1838 in the town of Samuel.
William and Hattie had three children: Mary Jo, William Henry, and Clara Belle. William Henry b. 1848, married Mary Neeley and in 1893, they moved from Mt. Pleasant Iowa to Ulysses, Nebraska. William Henry and Mary's family included sons, William (wed Maude> no children) Raymond (four kids) Frank Henry and Charles (who adopted a son).
Frank Henry is my Grandfather (1872 -1923). He married my Grandmother, Barbara Adams (herself a distant branch of the Presidental Adams family or so I was told by her as a very small child). Frank was a farmer in Ulysses Nebraska but move his family in 1917 to Fremont, Nebraska to try farming there just outside of the town. He died early in a tractor accident, leaving daughter Ruth b. 1901 d.1934, William Henry (who had sons Fred and Nick by wife Emily Marsden), David Raymond (who had daughters Barbara and Elizabeth by wife Alberta Delano) and George Francis b. March 29, 1910 d. Sept 5, 1978. George Francis Lamme married Mary Cheney in 1937 and Had two son, my brother John Francis Lamme, currently of Seguin, Texas and myself, George Thomas Lamme, currently of Charleston, SC. John has one son, David Shawn, and two daughters, Bridget Kaye and Kathleen Ann, all residing in Texas. I have no children.
From William Henry on, I can verify the line, but since most of the material I have was taken from very elderly relatives with bad handwriting and unorganized notes, it may not be completely correct. I have done web research and found many branches of the family but for the sake of time and space, have not included too much of it.
So, if anyone can help me fill in any missing links, I would be glad to have them
