Lamkin who died while digging a well

My gr-grandmother Jessie whose maiden name we believe to have been Enloe, married a man by the name of Lamkin (possibly Lambkin). As far as we know they had no children. Family legend has it that he died while digging a well (?water well). Jessie was reportedly born in MO but it is believed she at some point move to southern OK before statehood (before 1907). Would anyone know of a Mr Lamkin who died probably in the 1880s from a well digging accident? I would love to know his name and any history on him, and where he is from.
