I appreciate your time in discussing this. I want the best information I can get. What I have - from people who cite the "Decendants of Thomas Lamkin" book - is that there were three Thomas Lamkins in VA. The first, born in Norfolk England in 1610 and married to Elleanor ?, as you mentioned; His son born about 1659 in VA, and married to Susanna ?; and *his* son born before 1694 in VA, who married Deborah Newcomb in Connecticut in 1720. This would be the connection to the Hopkins' for their decendants. This thomas seems to have stayed in connecticut.
My branch of the Lamkin Family then seems to have moved to New York and then to Michigan. My uderstanding is that this is all in the Lamkin book, including the birth of Martha Lamkin in 1847.
What I know independently is that Martha married William Masten, my g-g-grandafther and the family moved to Nebraska, then to Colorado, and then to California. California is where Martha died and where my mother and I were born.
From what I can see, there seem to be a lot of Lamkins still in Michigan. (And during the unpleantness, some of them fought for the Union, of course.)
