Most of this family was in Westmoreland County after it was formed in 1653 from Northumberland. James died in Northumberland.

Land grant 18 October 1707.
Westmoreland Co., Va.
Grantee(s): Phillips, Robert and Lamkin, James.
Description: 464 acres.

Westmoreland WD 8-82, 4/21/1718, 3/9/1727 WILL of GEORGE (2) LAMKIN Wife Joan [Jean, Jane], son Peter 100 acres & house which is half of 200 acres he bought from Charles Lucas?. 100 acres adjacent to Cox. Heirs of body. Remainder to Eleanor Lamkin. Also mentions son George. . . . to my well beloved Son PETER LAMKIN. one hundred acres of Land the half of two hundred acres bought of CHARLES LUCAS the said 100 hundred acres to ly next adjoyning to ye land of COX and to be of a equal bredth from ye top to ye him and to ye heires of hlS body lawfully begotten. The remaindcr of the said Land I give to my Daughter ELANOR LAMKIN to her and heirs of her body George gets plantation where he lives. James mentioned as brother.

Northumberland, CO Record Book 1729-1737, 8/16/1732, p.63 James Lamkin, guardian of Ann and Elinor FLYNT, also mentioned on 8/17 at p.67.

Ibid. 5/19/1736 James Lamkin’s will proven by Jno Cloughton, Daniel Mealy & George Lamkin

NCO Record Book 1738-1743, 4/16/1743, p.240 Order in Chancery suit James Thompson, Lewis Lamkin & others and George Lamkin, Defendant. Each party of opinion that the MILL in dispute shall go to his? son George Lamkin provided that he pays ??? to James Lamkin that which James had contracted for with Richard Cloughton. George had the right to the mill of James, decd. and was to pay the others for it.

Westmoreland WD 10-242, 5/23/1746, 5/27/1746 GEORGE, LEWIS, JEAN LAMKIN and MANLEY BROWN & wife MARY, all children of James Lamkin to PETER LAMKIN, planter as described in will of James Lamkin in NCO 4/2/1736 will refers to six children and land bounded south and southwest by Peter Lamkin.
