Jacob Laminack arrived in Penn.27 August 1739. His name is listed in "Immigrants in Penn 1727-76" by Daniel Rupp. It reads "Palatine imported in the ship "Samuel"from Rotterdam but last from Deal in England did this day take and subscribe the Oaths to the Governor".The list includes Jacob Lamenich, age 34. From European records we find Joh.Jacob Lamenck of Wiesweiler m 24 June 1728 Anna Catharine, daughter of the late Matthes Cullman from Alben. According to the penitance records in the St.Julian Lutheran Church Book, the marriage was necessary due to pregnancy. The record goes on to say that Anna Catharine wife of Joh. Jacob Lameneck who lived for a time at Berschweiler then went to Penn deserting an habitally faithless wife. She lived at her sister's residence in Alben where she died 16 June 1747 and was buried on 17 June 1747 age 59; years, 3 weeks,5 days. It is possible that Jacob remarried once he was in Penn. He came to South Carolina during the 1760's. He was granted 150 acres of land 9 Oct 1767 and 300 acres of land 15 May 1772 by King George III of England. This land was located on Heller's Creek in the fork between Broad and Saluda Rivers in Newberry County. In 1789 this land was divided between his two sons Jacob II and Michael. The Jury Lists of South Carolina 1778-79 lists-The Lower Part of Ninety-Six District in the fork of Broad and Saluda Rivers Jacob Lomanuk, Senior and Jacob Lomanick as jurors. Jacob's son Michael was born 17 March 1747 and baptized 2 April 1747 at New Holland Lutheran Church Lancaster Co Penn. He served in the RW in Phileomon Waters' Regiment during the fall of Charleston in 1780. Michael and his wife Caty had nine children:John,David,Henry,Jacob,George,Daniel,Benjamin,Rebecca and Caty.
