Hi Dean,
Just got your message. I am related back to Alexander Lambie's second marriage to Susan Kilpatrick in 1833 through one of the sons called Robert. Alexanders father and mother were John Lambie and Barbara Smith. Other children from John and Barbaras marriage were David born 1799 and Mary born 1796. John was reputed to have been a ploughboy with the poet Robert Burns and always claimed to have been with Burns when he turned up a mouses nest with his plough. This subsequently became one of the famous poems of Burns. I have never managed to trace back beyond John who was born in the 1770s but have quite a bit from there forward.
Rob.
P.S. Thanks for mentioning the three towns site. I was born in one Stevenston, lived in another Saltcoats and went to school in the third Ardrossan. I now live near Edinburgh and it was good to look at the old photos from the site.
