Shirley, hello again. Not sure where at John K Lamascus died at. Though I'm pretty sure it was in OK. His son, my great grandpa Preston Halbert Lamascus lived in Bennington, KS and was the sheriff there. Somewhere my dad has a newspaper article with photo of Preston in his sheriff's outfit. It has something to do with him being the 'fastest draw' of KS.
Anyway, John K Lamascus was good friends with Jessie James. John K would hole up Jessie, Frank and gang in his barn after some of their 'escapades'. However Jessie being good friends with John K, he apparently received special treatment and stayed inside John K and Isadora's home. Jessi had given John K a set of his pistols,holster and other items.
My grandpa, Franklin Halbert Lamascus, John K's grandson, doesn't talk much about his grandpa John, but much about his father Preston. Preston is the one whom told stories of his father John K and Jessie James.
If anyone is interested, I have a photos (will get more later) of John K and Preston.
