Dear Luis,
The Lucius Mirabeau Lamar you refer to was my grandfather, born in 1866. He was the second of that name, and his son, the lawyer in New Orleans was L.M. Lamar, III. My grandfather married Georgia Hopson and they had six children, the first three born in Mexico and the rest in the USA. My grandfather worked and lived in Mexico until his death, in Mexico City, in 1931. His elder brother, Lavoisier Lamar, was a civil engineer who built many of the railroad bridges in northern Mexico (and in a number of other countries). Prior to moving to Mexico, my grandfather worked for a railroad in Georgia, and moved to Mexico at his brother's urging.
I'd like to hear from you, Luis. How did you happen to be interested in my grandfather? I have a good deal of other information which I would be happy to share. Do you have any specific questions? Aloha from Hawaii, Mary Lamar Gaddis
