I am aware of Henry Greybill Lamar Jr and Sr. They are both buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in Macon, Ga. I think Henry Jr. died in the late 1850's and Henry Sr. in 1861. I think Henry Jr. had reached adulthood when he died. He may have married and had children. I would like to know if he did have children and if one was Henry G. Lamar III. James T. Holland was born in 1854 and if Henry Jr. had a son he would have been born in the mid 1850's. I think Henry Jr. was born in early 1830's- not positive. James Holland was charged with the murder of a Thomas Davis in New York City in 1885. The New York Times mentioned at the time of James' trial in March of 1886 a friend of Holland's, Henry G. Lamar of Georgia was there to support Holland. James Holland never lived in Ga. He was born in Pushmataha, AL but moved to Texas as a young boy. It has been a puzzle how Holland and Lamar were friends. Unless Lamar had lived in TX and moved back to Ga. Recently I learned that James' older brother, William, attended Cumberland University in Tennessee in the 1871-1874 or 1875. Cumberland's record are missing for the 1874-1875 school year. There is a tradition in the AL branch of the family that the two brothers returned to AL and both were educated to become lawyers.
If this is true then James may have known Henry G. Lamar as a school friend. James did not attend at Cumberland. I very much want to learn how Henry Lamar and James Holland became friends. P. S. Holland was aquitted of the murder.
