James A. Lamar, 73, Is Claimed By Death Crossville- James Abner Lamar, 73 who recently retired as manager of the Crossville Telephone Company, died at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, April 3, at his home west of here Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Stokes Chapel Methodist Church, with the Rev. Andrew Riscer and the Rev. Dale Turner officiating. Burial was in the Stokes Chapel Cemetery, with the Kittinger Funeral Home in charge. The pallbearers were: H. L. Rudolph, Clyde Rawlinson, Fred Pretzsch, Chauncey Forbar, Claude Carter, and Phillip Schalk. The flower bearers were Lena Levingston, Norma Gene Livingston, Lota Carter, Mrs. Harold Hansman, Yvonne Pretzsch, Lene Thompson, Ruth Bryant, Carol Sue Pretzsch, Mary Williams, Margaret Williams, Helen Harper, Wilma Hansman and Rosa Lee Carter. James Abner Lamar, son of Alfred and Aletha Lamar, was born in White County, Ill., March 22, 1875. On Nov. 24, 1896, Mr. Lamar was united in marriage to Margaret Allen of White County, Ill., and to this union seven children were born, three of whom preceded him in death. Surviving is the companion, Margaret Allen Lamar, three sons, Paul A. Lamar, Cyril J. Lamar, of Crossville, Ill., and Maurice E. Lamar of Warren, Mass., one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Williams, of Indianapolis, Ind., one half-sister, Mrs. Ida Armstrong, Princeton, Ind., one sister, Mrs. Clara Fifer, of Griffin, Ind., and six grandchildren. Early in live Mr. Lamar professed a hope in Christ and united with the General Baptist Church at Concord, He spent many years of his life as a farmer but for the past several years was manager of the Crossville Telephone Company, from which he recently retired. He had been in failing health for sometime but took seriously ill Friday , April 2, and passed away Saturday evening. Besides the family he leaves a host of friends who were shocked to learn of his sudden serious illness and passing. . Notify Administrator about this message?
