Was Daniel Lake born a Lake?

Update
as I stated in my previous reply, a 1820 census shows a Daniel Lake family and a Nicholas Lake (minus a child)in the same township of Va. I would say Daniel WAS the child listed in Nicholas' previous census, but maybe not his child.
The new twist to this investigation is a (unvalidated)report that Nicholas Lake in 1798 had listed as a taxible properity "a young white slave". Was Daniel Lake born a Lake or given the Lake name? The truth is out there.

Note. I have a lot of dates and such cluttering my mind, and the mentioned years of the two census' might be 1800 and 1810.

as always any comments are welcome
Bill Lake Jr. of Santa Clara , California.
