I am sorry I read the 1844 as the birthdate not the marriage date. So yes that is possible.
Several years ago, this message board helped me find out that I was a Mayflower Descendant and if your wife can prove her connection to Joshua and Sarah, then she is a descendant of Mayflower passenger Francis Eaton. I am related to their oldest son Ebenezer Lake born in 1786.
Joshua Lake is the son of Benjamin Lake Jr. born 22 Dec. 1732 and Lydia Hutton b 22 Jan 1759.
Benjamin Lake Jr. is the son of Benjamin Lake born 29 May 1697 and Mercy Eaton born 27 Jun 1731.
Mercy Eaton is the daughter of Ebenezer Eaton born 1674 and Hannah Rickard.
Ebenezer Eaton is the son of Benjamin Eaton born 1627/28 and Sarah Hoskins born 4 Dec 1660.
Benjamin Eaton is the son of Francis Eaton born in England and Christian Penn born abt. 1606 in England.
Francis Eaton and his first wife Sarah and their son Samuel came over on the Mayflower in 1620. Sarah died in the first winter. Christian Penn came a few years later.
My Mayflower application was approved in 2006. Most of the above information is documented in the Mayflower Families Through 5 Generations Vol. 9 Francis Eaton book. That documents up to Joshua being born.
