James Lake, Eliza Dean/Deen, Longwell Cemetery near Foxboro Ontario

Hi all.

I am looking for ancestors and/or decendants of James Lake and Eliza Ann Dean/Deen. They are no doubt decended from John Lake and Mary Margaret Snider but I am unaware of the connection.

In his book pages 242 and 243, McMillan has Eliza Jane married to James Lake born 1794 however the tombstone in the Longwell Cemetery just west of Foxboro, Ontario indicates the James she is married to was born October 15, 1812. Other stones seems to verify that the children listed by McMillan (page 243) are correct for this James and Eliza and a couple of the stones seem to have been replaced for newer ones (they appear to be polished granite and relatively new or newer). I have checked with Campbell's Monuments in Bellevile and they were not aware that they had done any work there.

The 2 youngest family members buried there are a great and a great great grandson of James and Eliza, Clayton Eugene Lake killed November 11, 1916 at Vimy Ridge, and his son John Wesley Lake who died in 1952.
This woulld lead me to thinking that there may still be decendants living in the area or at least someone that may be aware of decendants.

It would appear that the 1794 James Lake in fact was married to Elizabeth Hagerman

In talking to a now retired municipal worker, he indicated that there may be some Longwell decendants left in the area but was not aware of any Lake decendants.

The cemetary is now owned by the Municipality of Quinte West (in the former Sidney Township) The municipality now considers it to be abandoned.

Any leads or other info would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks.....Brian
