Hi all. I have a small Bible that belonged to my maternal great-grandmother, Nina SMITH (GABRION, 1858-1938). Nina's father was Harvey SMITH (1821-1877), who owned a photography studio in Kendalville, Noble County, Indiana. Nothing was known of the reason for the bible being in the family but my mother said it was always called "The Lake Bible", the entries being unreadable without the help of modern scientific methods. I have recently extracted these entries: Grace LAKE 9-11-1806; Diane L. LAKE 1808; Daniel LAKE 09-08; Maries LAKE 08-26; Mary LAKE 05-06; Sara LAKE 07-06; Emely LAKE 06-08; Aberham LAKE 08; John LAKE 04-16; Harvey SMITH 1821. Harvey Smith was born in Ohio and his wife Elizabeth (Stiles) (1836-1927) was born in Pennsylvania. These entries suggest that perhaps Harvey SMITH was adopted by the Lake family. Can anyone shed any light on these people? TIA. Bill Theeringer <W8PEY@arrl.net> Notify Administrator about this message?
