Aug 10, 2008 I'm descended from Nickolas LAKE and looking for info on Eliza LAKE & Robert Zarley. My gt gt grandparents were Lewis Lake & Rosanna Swope. I'm hoping that anyone reading this may have other info on this line of Lakes and that you will be willing to share. Sincerely grateful Dan Brown 1131 SW Wanetah Way McMinnville, OR 97128 503 434-1215 dadbrown_99@yahoo.com Nicholas Lake, Warren Co., IA, probate Posted: 19 Dec 2000 7:39PM GMT Classification: Surnames: All, "Nicholas Lake died 1874 in Warren County, Iowa. I have posted a transcription of his probate file to <http://www.heritagepathways.com/probate/probate.htm> Prior to Warren Co., he lived in Henry Co., Iowa; Knox Co., Ohio; and Washington Co., Ohio. I have also obtained from a public library in Madison Co, Indiana, a three page Biographical sketch published in 1893 of prominent citizens of the county which included judge Richard Lake (son of Lewis and grandson of Cornelious Lake. I also found a very long but informative probate record for Nickolaus Lake and which basically proves that Eliza LAKE (wife of Robert Zarley) was the daughter of Nickolaus LAKE. I have also included some US SSDI listings for some of Louis Zarley Davisson’s children. Now that I know the death dates and locations of some Lakes, I am now in the process of trying to locate obituaries so that I may eventually contact living descendants who might be willing to share LAKE family history. I am descended from Nickolas brother, Lewis LAKE who was born in 1794 in NY and married Rosanna Swope born in MD.—Dan Brown Lake Joyce Smith Posted: 8 Apr 1999 12:00PM GMT Classification: Query Surnames: Lake, Davisson “Help solve a family mystery! I am looking for death record, or obituary or buriel location for Eliza Lake Zarley , who we believe died in Wagoner County, Oklahoma in Aug. of 1907, while living with her daugher and son-in-law, Louisa and Fletcher Davisson . She's lost and her family would like to find her!”—Joyce Smith Teresa Lowe Posted: 28 Apr 1999 12:00PM GMT Classification: Query Surnames: LAKE “Many of the death records are going to be hard to come by in Wagoner . There was a fire in the court house which destroyed many records and one of the funeral homes also had a fire which destroyed many records. If your relative is buried in Wagoner , they have people in the genealogical department there that will search the cemetery archives (they are set up in the basement of the library). Try contacting Funnel1@aol.com She's working on the Wagoner Web Page and might be able to help you along that line. At this time Wagoner doesn't have anything but the beginnings of their web page.”--Teresa Zarley Localities > North America > United States > States > Iowa > Counties > Polk Joyce Smith Posted: 1 Nov 1998 12:00PM GMT Classification: Query Surnames: Zarley, Lake “I am attempting to prove (or disprove) that Nicholas and Sarah Lake were the parents of Eliza Lake Zarley It is possible that Eliza died in the DesMoines or Polk Co.area, and perhaps on the death certicate her parents would be listed. She died in 1907 and was married to Robert Zarley . She is buried in Warren County,. but that county has no record of her death, so perhaps she was hospitalized in DesMoines and died there. Would appreciate any help in this matter.”- Joyce Smith “Can anyone help solve a mystery? We are attempting to discover who was Eliza Lake Zarley's parents. She and her husband, Robert Zarley, lived in the Indianola area for many years. He died there in 1905; she then went to live with her daughter in OK and died there 2 years later. We have been unable to find a death certificate for her, and are now hoping perhaps her obituary was posted in an Indianola newspaper since they had made their home there for many years. Our hopes are that the obituary would tell who her parents were AND where she was interred-another mystery. Eliza died in August of either 1907 or 1908. Can anyone help in this search? “--Joyce Smith 1870 census of Warren Co, Iowa, Liberty Twp, P.O. Since Nicholas owned sufficient property but left no will, the court appointed an administrator who inventoried each item of property, giving us today a detailed look at Nicholas’s way of life as a farmer. And the sale of Nicholas's property gives us a list of all his heirs. The Genealogical Society of Utah has filmed the Warren County Probate Records, 1830-1964, which are available at the LDS Family History Library on 103 rolls of microfilm and may be ordered through the LDS Family History Centers.
