Have you gone through the 1810 and 1820 Federal census of likely NY counties, looking for HOH named Lake? I know Lanson wouldn't be enumerated by name, but he would be there by age and sex. This is a way to find potential parents for him...you then research the names you find which had sons the right age to be Lanson.
