Are you sure John A. Laird born about 1803, is the same as John Amos Laird husband of Amanda Saffel? I know from the 1850 census records of Henry Co. John's wife was Amanda H. They were married about 1840 and had 1 daughter Ann born abt 1842 in OH. They were in OH in 1840 and 1850. They are on the 1856 Iowa census with their daughter, Ann, having been in the state 1 year. He enlisted in the Civil War in 1862 at the age of 60, out of Mt Pleasant and died of disease 1n 1864.
