We will be going October 21-25th for a family reunion.I have followed the Laird Geneology on the web site from time to time, just to see if there's anything new.My husband is descended from the family of Josiah Jr. Frank Whitfield to Willie Josiah to Frederick Fosby to Glyn, my husband. Family oral history is that they may have left Soctland to Ireland, then to America. We know they were in South Carolina in the late 1700's, then migrated to Mississippi after 1800.We found a land grant in SC in 1800 for Josiah, Sr.They were in Mississippi by around 1820. Again, oral history says they came down the Natchez Trace with just a wagon and oxen.If you ever see the Trace (it can be driven from Natchez to Nashville) you can still see some of the original trails and it just amazes me how they traveled so far. It is also awesome that they (the Josiah's, at least the senior) saw the Revolution. Will check my books when I get a few minutes this afternoon.
