Hello,As far as I can tell he came from Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, PA
He was born about 1826 and I think his wife's name was Mary L. (Weaver). I believe he was in Phila. in 1855 as a Tobacconist.
He died 19 April 1888 and is buried in Camden, NJ at the Evergreen Cemetery. The records at the Geneological Society show his father as being William W. and his mother as Martha.
I found someones geneology that shows a Granville born about the same time in the same place with the parents names being William and Martha. It shows the children as being:
Jacob M. born abt. 1814
William H. born about 1816
Mary Ann born about 1818
John Lohra born about 1820
Granville born about 1822
Manfield S. born about 1824
Now listen to this
John Lohra Laird married Harriet Rice Slahter
Their daughter's name is Mary Bibbichouse Laird. Mary married a George Schober. (My grandmother said that one of the Laird's had a shoe store named Laird & Schober shoes.) In the 1875 Philadelphia directory I found a listing for "Laird, Schober & Mitchell shoes". Now this Laird is a Samuel S. Laird. I believe him to be the brother of Mary Bibbichouse Laird Schober. This Samuel's name is Samuel Slaughter Laird and he married Mary Elizabeth Schober. I think Mary Elizabeth and George may have been brother and sister.
Now, Granville's sister Mary married a Charles Henry Bibighause. (Bibighause-Bibbichouse)
Mary and Charles were married German Reformed in Bucks County and I believe they are buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia, PA.
Most of the Samuel S. Laird - Mary Elizabeth Schober children were born in the Germantown area of Phila.
I have more names and dates if you would like them. Thanks for your e-mail.
