Yes Linda, Harvey is nothing to do with our Laidman branches. He is of Jewish (Polish, I think) origins.

Like other Laidmans, I wrote to him asking him where he fitted in, and he sent me a very nice and polite reply, saying that he was nothing to do with us, and that he was often asked - poor chap!

Mind you, maybe we were all of Jewish origin once, and converted due to religious persecution. Or maybe Harvey's lot belonged to our group once, and converted to Judaism - who knows. But I doubt there's any connection: there are such a lot of clergymen in our lot, I sometimes wonder if there isn't some religious gene floating around. Mind you, most of the Laidmen I know now are pretty ungodly ;-)
