I am looking for more info on my great(4)grandmother, Barbara Lahr. The Gilbert Cope Collection : Family Data Collections of the Genealogical Society of PA lists her birth as abt 1771 in PA. They note her parents as Peter Lahr ( also appears spelled as Larr ) and Esther. Barbara m. Thomas Hartley on 7/17/1808 in Chester or Fayette County, PA. Their notes say that Barbara was German, probably a Methodist or Mennonite. She used to sing German hymns to the children. A copy of her catechism is referred to as having been kept by one descendant for her Mennonite school. Four or so of their children were born in PA, the last one to have done so was son, Norton D. Hartley in 1813. The family moved west, living for a time in Ohio and then in Randolph and Wayne Counties, IN.
I am just starting research on the Lahr line and would appreciate any information that you may have on this family. Thanks.
