Anita, there are 6 different families in Quebec using Lahaie, Lahaye or Lahaise, and thru the years, the spelling varied. Only one family came from Ireland, via the states as the ancestor Jean Lehay was taken as a prisoner of war in the states and brought to Quebec, where he married another prisonner Madeleine Swarted-Swarden-Schouard, they raised a nice family on Montreal island.

If your ancestor is a Lepelé dit Lahaye, welcome to my family! Our ancestor came from France in 1669, to Trois-Rivières et I will be very happy to help you with the family tree. I have a huge index of marriages on all 6 Lahaie-Lahaye-Lahaise families.
