Hello Ron: arrived in Deadwood on Thursday; visiting momma and going to May Day tomorrow. Knew your grandfatther, parents, your mother. I grew up in Deadwood. Adam Laurenz LaGrone who came from Schonau, Germany to the colony of South Carolina in 1752 was my 8th great grandfather. Descendents of his settled in what is now Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas and Arkansas. I have quite a collection from a number of sources on the LaGrone family. Cousins many times removed still live in Schonau; they own a bakery. A distant cousin of ours, Martha Arnold who once lived and worked in Shreveport and is now in Miss. visited there 2 summers ago. She has a book; her branch of LaGrone's went on to Milam County, Texas. The name Adam was used over and over in the family; my great-great grandfather was named Adam and founded Deadwood when the area was still a part of Mexico; Andrew Jackson LaGrone, one of his sons, was my great grandfather; Jefferson Bragg LaGrone, one of his sons was my grandfather; Temple D.LaGrone was my dad. They are all buried in the Deadwood Cemetery. So yes, we are related to the La Grones in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas. Let me know if can provide any other information.
