BRUXELLES/BRUSSEL & LAGIMODIERE - Red River & Pembina
I'm not related to the names below, so I can't answer to queries related to them. But I'm sure it will be of some interets to the descendants.
In Gail Morin's book Metis Families (vol. 3 p. 257), we have Marguerite LAGIMODIERE (d/o Jean-Baptiste & Josephte CRIE) married 10 Nov. 1818 Red River Mission to Roger___
I suspect this Roger could rather be Pierre-Joseph BRUSSEL aka BRUXELLES.
Pierre-Joseph BRUSSEL, son of Pierre BRUSSEL and Anne-Marie NICOLET, born. c. 1789 in St-Maurice, canton de Valais, Switzlerand.
Pierre-Joseph BRUSSEL a soldier of the swiss regiment of Capt. de Meuron, came to Canada in July 1813. After his discharge in 1815, he married Juliana FROLIS Nov. 20, 1815 in Montreal (Notre-Dame parish). The couple had baptised a daughter a month before : Faustine BRUSSEL, born 13, bpt. 14 Oct 1815 in Montreal (Notre-Dame parish).
On 15 Apr., 1817, Pierre-Joseph BRUSSEL signed a contract for Lord Selkirk and the HBC to go to the Red River Settlement as a laborer and peace keeper (J. Desautels, notary, ANQ-Mtl). He was married to Marguerite LAGIMODIERE in 1818 at Red River.
Their daughter Josephte BRUXELLES b. c. 1820 married Francois BOUCHER (Francois & Josephte MASKEGONE) c. 1847 either at Pembina or St.Boniface MB. Their children married into the BERTHELETTE family.
