Hello! New to this forum. We have two Lage brothers living in Shelby Cty, Iowa in the late 1800's, early 1900's. They are Thomas and Carl Lage, both from Schoenberg, Germany. (Don't know which Schoenberg). Thomas (born c.1853) married Cecilia SCHNOOR (they were sisters)around 1883. Two sons: Carl H. (1884) and William (1893). Carl (born c.1861) married Margaretha SCHNOOR in 1897. Two sons: Hugo (around 1898) and Emil (1903). The 1920 census shows these two families living in Shelby County, IA.

Thomas and Carl had other siblings: Hans, William, and Anna. Don't know if these three came to the US or not. They were the five children of Hans LAGE (1821-1906), a weaver in Germany, and Anna KLINDT (1822-1886).

Emil's SSDI says he died in Walnut Creek, CA in Jan, 1998. Don't know about Hugo's death.

Thomas' two sons died in Harlan, IA. Carl in 1974 and William in 1983.

Does this information connect with any of you Lage's out there? Looking forward to hearing from you, if so.
