Leagas - England
My paternal grandmother was a LEAGAS. The family has been traced back to Warwickshire, England circa 1750. Earlier examples are known with no proven link. Other spellings include LEGAS, LEGUS, LAGAS. Believe that they may be an anglicised form of LAGASSE or LA GASSE. A Vincente LA GASSE -Iron pot maker - (believed to be a Belgium Huguenot)is known to have settled in the area late 1600s. Grateful for any information. Peter, London,UK
