It was some time back that I looked in on the Lafontaine/Ethier page.
Both names are related to me.
Lafontaine, Julia- my great-great grandmother's name and
Ethier (Etier - family dropped the 'h') , Louis is my great-great grandfather's name.
My father was born in 1902 so it seems to fit into the same era of which you write.
It seems more was said about Louis Ethier than Julia Lafontaine.
He was born in Canada in or near Quebec however I don't know Julia's place of birth.
He worked as a fur trapper for the Astor Fur Co. Eventually, settling in South Bend, Indiana. The trappers would bring the furs to the trading center in South Bend - having portaged them from Lake Michigan.
I married and moved around a bit and ultimately settled in Madison, Wisconsin.
I will be glad to know more about the Lafontaine and Ethier families in Wis.
Thanks.
