This is so round-about and tenuous it may not help at all. Lycurgus/Lycurges Brock b 1858 TX had a half first cousin once removed named Charity Brock. Nicknamed Lurgus, his father was Benjamin Franklin Brock b 1820 Franklin Co MO (prob in Washington Community), d TX (< Joshua Warren Brock, Sr).

Charity's parents are supposed to have been George Washington Brock and Lydia Pitt; George Washington Brock is said to be the son of Peyton S. Brock, who is said by some researchers to be a son of Joshua Warren Brock, Sr by his first wife, Fanny Estes.

The thing is that at least one of the Brock cousins (George Spencer Pettus Brock) ended up in the general area of Bosque Co at about the time you mention. Also, Charity m Anderson Benjamin Laffoon.

Could it be possible there is a connection between your Lafon and these Laffoons, and between your Lycurgus and our Lycurgus Brock?
After Washington Community, Franklin Co, MO, our Brocks moved to the Newton/Barry Co MO area before abt 1833. (Joshua Warren Brock Jr m in Sarcoxie between 1833-35.)

A long shot, but maybe it will help a little.

Of course, it is also just possible that Lycurgus was a popular name at that time!
