Good afternoon Sister,
I am a LaFleur descendant. This is my connection to the LaFleur family: Zilia Lafleur (Valerien, *Jean, Jacques dit, Jean Baptiste Barsa dit, Andre Barsa dit, Etienne Barsa dit).
Zilia was born 12 May 1830, bt. Opel Ch, dec'd. Her Succ. #3782 was filed in the Opel. Ct. Hse.: 13 Feb 1875. Zilia married Auguste LeDoux, Jr, 31 Aug 1847 in St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, LA s/o Auguste LeDoux and Josephine Fontenot. He was b. 29 Dec 1826, bt. Opel Ch, d.
24 Oct1902, bur. St. Bernard Catholic Church, Breaux Bridge, LA.
I am not a direct descendant of Charles LaFleur but we are
descendants of the same Etienne Barsa dit LaFleur who was/is
the progenitor of the LaFleur family in Louisiana.
Charles LaFleur (Lastie, Marcelin, *Jean (this is where Charles and Zilia connect) Jacques Andre dit, Jean Baptiste, Jacques Andre dit. Jea Baptiste dit, Andre Barsa dit, Etienne Barsa dit). Charles was born 23 Jun 1854, bt. Opel. Ch. He married Cora Pelagie Lacombe 16 Feb 1874 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lake Charles, LA - reconstrtucted after the fire of 1910 by Rev. Donald J. Hébert - d/o Joseph Lacombe and Marie Richard. Cora was b. 15 Dec 1853, bt. Opel. Ch., dec'd 26 Dec 1908, bur. St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, LA. What do you think the picture is worth?
I am the former Rose E. Morein b. in Ville Platte, Evangeline Parish, LA. I moved to Alabama when I married
my now deceased husband, Ed Wells.
I enjoy doing genealogy research, and it passes the time.
Information I gave you comes from Southwest Louisiana Records by Rev. Donald J. Hébert (now deceased). Claitors in Baton Rouge has acquired Hebertpublications.com
Best regards,
Rose E. Morein Wells
