Does the article that you quote have any info to help continue research? I can trace my lineage back to Jean Andre dit LaFleur, born in Quebec Canada on July 1, 1709. I can’t go further than Jean Andre dit LaFleur in my research. His line eventually went to Acadia and then to Louisiana. I assume that Andre was his original surname before he was given/took the dit name of LaFleur. This military naming is news to me so I need some help.
