Carol... I am looking for my grandfather Nelson Flora born ca 1890 or after in or near Watertown NY... Since your GGF is said to have died in the late 1880s there MAY be a connection... My father always said "Flora" was an "Americanized" derivative of Lafleur, that the family originally came from Provence via Quebec... Since the name Nelson is rather unusual for a first name, I wonder if there could be some connection... Did your GGF have any children (or grandchildren) named Nelson that you can't locate? Have you run across any Lafleur to Flora transitions in your searches?? Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated...
