Since I found that Samuel Lafon reference in 1758 in Lunenburg Co., Virginia, I checked the International IGI. I was very interested to find the following information: SAMUELLE LE FIN christened 07 Sept 1600 Threadneedle Street, French Huguenot, London, England. Son of JERY LE FIN. Now I know that the "Lafon" Huguenots sometimes spelled their name (or it was misspelled) on French Huguenot church records as "Le Fin" or "La Fin", etc. Hmmm......This is just a wild thought, but......Could "JERY LE FIN" be "JERY LAFON or LAFOON?" Could his actual name be JEREMIAH LAFON/LAFOON? Nathaniel Laf(f)oon named a son "JEREMIAH LAFFOON". Could this be where the name comes from????? Could Jery Le Fin be the father of Samuel, Nathaniel, and Matthew? Just throwing this out there for thought. LaVelda Notify Administrator about this message?
