Lafferty/Davis connection

Hello all,
Been a while since posting here. Just to restate some information.
My father's mother was Celia A Davis her father of record was Henderson Lafferty Davis. She was born in 1883 and died in 1964 in Arkansas. We found out that Henderson Davis, was actually Henderson Lafferty as listed in the 1870 census. We think his mother was a Davis, Polly Davis, daughter of Isham and Sarah Davis. His father was likely a son of Henderson Lafferty and Nancy Craig. We have no name for this son as the only found record is the 1840 census which list a son 10-15 years.
Polly Davis was born in 1835 in Tennessee or Georgia.
Some time before the 1870 census both Polly and her husband disappear and we find the 2 boys, ages 9 and 5 living with Isham and Sarah Davis listing their names as Henderson Lafferty and Franklin Lafferty. The 1880 census confirms the boys are their grandchildren. in that census the name is Davis.
Neither one of the boys ever used Lafferty as a last name again.
Henderson used Lafferty as his middle name thourhout his life. Franklin Munroe Davis never acknowledged the name Lafferty.
We still search for the first name of that Lafferty son and what happened to him and their mother Polly Davis.

Thanks for reading.
Patricia Swearingen Mesojednik (Davis/Lafferty/Swaringen/Rains)
