Hello!
I just posted a message on the Lindsey message board regarding the parents of Sarah Lindsey Lafferty, and I thought I would share it here, too.I don't think that Sarah was the daughter of Isaac Lindsey because he left a will and he did not name a daughter Sarah in the will.I think that Sarah was part of the same Lindsey family, though.I think she was the daughter of Ezekiel Lindsey, who died in Laurens Co., SC in 1784, and that she moved with her uncle John Lindsey from Laurens Co. to present day Jackson Co., GA (previously Franklin Co.). I think that John Lindsey was probably important to her after her father's death, and that is why she named a son John Lindsey Lafferty. Here is my post with my records about the Lindsey family that I believe Sarah was part of:

Dear Gloria,
I think that I wrote in an earlier post that I believe that Sarah Lindsey, wife of John Lafferty, was a niece of John Lindsey (ca. 1749-1810). John Lindsey's 1810 will did not include a daughter named Sarah, but I think that Sarah was closely related to him. John Lindsey had sold land to John Lafferty in 1792 in present day Jackson Co., GA (Franklin Co., GA Deed Book H, pg. 152).
Here is a chronology of events that provide a circumstantial trail of evidence that Sarah Lindsey belonged to the lineage of Abraham Lindsey b. ca. 1723 (father of John Lindsey) who moved from present day Loudoun Co., VA to present day Newberry Co., SC ca. 1762.
1. On 25 July 1763, Abraham Lindsey of Craven Co., SC sold 76 acres of land in Loudoun Co., VA to John Neville. On the same day, Patrick Lafferty and his wife, Prudence, daughter and heir of Jacob Binks, both of Craven Co., SC, also sold land in Loudoun Co. to John Neville (Loudoun Co., VA Deed Book D, pgs. 3-5).
2. On 6 Dec. 1774, James and Elenor Steen of Laurens Co., SC sold land on the Enoree River to John Lindsey, son of Abraham Lindsey of the Enoree Settlement (Laurens Co., SC Deed Book A, pg. 294).
3. On 21 Feb. 1784, John Lindsey and Patrick Lafferty appraised the estate of Ezekiel Lindsey of Laurens Co., SC. Elizabeth (Betty) Lindsey and Henry Hamilton were the administrators of the estate (Abstracts of Old 96 and Abbeville Disrict Wills and Bonds, compiled by Willie Pauline Young, pg. 177).
4. The 1790 census for Laurens Co., SC listed Capt. John Lindsey. Living next door to him was Elizabeth Lindsey, who had three males under 21 and another female living with her. I believe that the other female was her daughter, Sarah Lindsey.
5. On 12 May 1791, John Lindsey sold most of his Laurens Co., SC land (Laurens Co., SC Deed Book E, pg. 16). He set aside half of a 300 acre parcel, which he sold in 1800 to Ezekiel, Isaac, and Edward Lindsey, who are believed to have been the three sons of the widowed Elizabeth Lindsey (Laurens Co., SC Deed Book G, pg. 127).
6. On 31 Oct. 1791, John Lindsey purchased 287 1/2 acres of land in present day Jackson Co., GA. Witnesses to the deed included John Lafferty, Henry Hamilton (see #3, above), and J. Barnett (Franklin Co., GA Deed Book K, pgs. 11b and 12).
7. On 5 Nov. 1792, John Lindsey sold half of the 287 1/2 acre parcel he had purchased in 1791 to John Lafferty (Franklin Co., GA Deed Book H, pg. 152).
8. In July 1793 John Lafferty, Henry Hamilton, Jacob Lindsey (son of John Lindsey), and Clayborn Barnett (son-in-law of John Lindsey) were listed in the same company of scouts and spies under Brig. Gen. John Clark's command (American Militia in the Frontier Wars 1790-1796, by Murtie June Clark, pgs. 299-300).
9. John and Sarah Lindsey Lafferty named a son John Lindsey Lafferty. It is my opinion that this son was named in honor of John Lindsey, Sarah's probable uncle. I think that John Lindsey was probably a father figure for Sarah after the death of her own father. I don't have proof that Ezekiel Lindsey who died in Laurens Co., SC in 1784 was the father of Sarah Lindsey, nor that John Lindsey was her uncle, but the circumstantial evidence certainly suggests that Sarah Lindsey was somehow related to this John Lindsey.
10. A family bible record lists another son of John and Sarah Lindsey Lafferty as Jacob Binks Lafferty, b. 1796 in Georgia. Evidently, the father of John Lafferty was not Patrick Lafferty who had married Prudence Binks, daughter of Jacob Binks. John Lafferty's father was Thomas Lafferty, a brother of Patrick. Thomas Lafferty died in 1780. (http://genforum.genealogy.com/lafferty/messages/818.html)
All of these records do not provide proof of the parentage of Sarah Lindsey, but it does seem that she was likely related to John Lindsey, son of Abraham Lindsey of Loudoun Co., VA and Newberry Co., SC.
I hope that this makes some sense to you!
