The Lafferty family had a habit of naming their children after family kin or friends.Vaughn was a last name and so is Burr. There is a Vaughn Burr in Arkansas.Like John Lindsey Lafferty carried his mothers surname as a middle name. His brother Jacob Binks Lafferty is named after either a close friend or possible a family member whoes name was Jacob Blinks.(Binks being a surname)Another brother Henderson Laffertyfamily history tells was named after the woman who cut down his grandfather after he was hanged at King Mountain.Anther surname given to Austin Lafferty also a brother and the last of the names Lorenzo Dow Lafferty named after a famous preacher Lorenzo Dow who was in the North Carolinas.
So anything I see any name that could be a sur name I am betting it was a friend or family members surname.
What is your line of descendancy on Ivannah and John Lindsey Lafferty.Mine is through Jacob Binks Lafferty b 1796 in GA and then John Annis Lafferty born 1838 in Carrolton Arkansas then my father John Annis Lafferty born 1875 in Texas. My dad had just67 whe I came along (that was before viagra).Mother had 4 children in the 7 years they were married she died at my birth she was 28.
The only photo I have of John Lindsey brother are of Lorenzo Dow Lafferty.of the next generation I do have a few of my grandfather John Annis Lafferty and his brother Thomas Binks Lafferty and of a sister Margaret Miller Lafferty.Photos are hard to come by.If you have any I would love for you to scan at least at 300 dpi and send.
I would enjoy corresponding more with you.I am in the gathering phase of a second book on the Lafferty clan.If you can fill in any of that Line I would ever be so greatful.
