She was baptized "Marie-Elmonde" but was always known as Edna. I don't know where Jennifer got the "Mary" unless she's referring to "Marie". Everyone I know who were much older called her ALWAYS "Edna". I have her funeral card with a photo on it in my possession which calls her "EDNA" and has the 1940 date on it, and also gives her husband as Theophile Laferriere. Hard to lie about that evidence! Obviously, she died well after Jennifer's father's birth. I told her next time she came to RI, to get a death record to see what exactly she died from, as it was NOT from complications of childbirth!
As for the two of you being related, not all the shots are in yet, but maybe this week, we can establish that for sure. Dennis
