Dennis,
I just spoke with my father and he said that my grandfather, Theophill Laferriere, lived in New York for some time, he wasn't sure when or where and told me to check with my Aunts for confirmation, I don't know if this helps or not, my father has clippings from when he passed and I believe he has his prayer card from his wake. I'm coming to RI shortly and will be going through old boxes to find it. Also I wanted to note that Theophill did have children with another women/wife not sure which my father has aleast one half brother who is older than him.
