Lee Earnest "Pete" Burnett, 57, died Oct. 4, 2007, at the Greenwood-Leflore Hospital in Greenwood. He was a native of Lafayette County and a former resident of Oxford. He was a member of East St. Peters M.B. Church.
Services were at the Tallahatchie Oxford Missionary Baptist Association Building in Oxford. Burial was in Buford Chapel Cemetery in Oxford.
Survivors included his mother, Annie Buford of Oxford; one daughter, Phyllis Kinner of Jackson; six sisters, Shirley Burnette, Doris Jones, Carolyn Buford, Merlinda Burnette and Chertha Yarber, all of Oxford, and Jan Hayes of Coffeeville; four brothers, Chester Burnett, Darryl Mitchell and James Mitchell, all of Oxford, and William Burnett of Fort Worth, Texas; two grandchildren.
