We are looking for information on the parents of Andrew Lafayette. We know that Andrew was born in 1843, possibly in Woodstock, or Newport, Vt., but we can't confirm that. He died on Mar 27, 1876 in Manchester, N.H., and is interred in St. Joseph's cemetery there. He was a stone cutter and stone mason, and died of pneumonia. We think his father was Joseph Lafayette, born in Canada somewhere, his mother Mary (?), also born in Canada, possibly in a place beginning with a "D". Andrew married Louisa Duprey, time and place unknown. Their children were: Louisa F. b: Fall River, Ma. - 18 Dec 1867 d: Hookset, N.H.- 17 Nov 1868 Joseph b: Hookset, N.H. - 11 Aug 1872 Mary b: 1870 Cora b: Concord, N.H. (?) - 1874 m: Gilbert Pontbriant - Jan 13, 1896 in W. Boylston, Ma. Lawrence b: ? Lived in Worcester, Ma. as an adult Andrew also had a brother, Lawrence, who was also born in Vt., and married Myra Parent. Is anyone familiar with this line? We would like any additional information about Andrew's parents, exactly where Andrew might have been born, or any other info anyone might have about this family. I am descended from Cora Lafayette and Gilbert Pontbriant, and am also looking for information on the ancestors of Gilbert, although I do know that Gilbert's mother was Mary Laprade, and his father was either Arthur or Hercules Pontbriand. On another, but related subject, we are interested in tracing this Lafayette family to the Marquis' family.(Isn't everyone?). Does anyone have any info on the Marquis' brothers and sisters, or other members of the family who may have descendants in the US or Canada? Thanks for you help, Mary Daley Notify Administrator about this message?
