I have seen the original of the baptismal record for Jean Baptiste Ladner (1724) and his parents' are shown as: CHRISTIAN LEDTNER, Swiss from the Canton of Grisons, and MARIE BARBE BRUNEL.

I have seen the original of the ship's (1719)passenger list and it is as you say, except that it specifically identifies him as a SWISS citizen from PITERSENE.

By the way, "LUIS" was not a name that was used in the German-speaking Canton of Grisons circa 1700. Interestingly, on my recent trip to the Canton of Grisons in Switzerland I found a baptism for CHRISTIAN LADNER born May 5th, 1690 and his father was named LUZI LADNER.
