Question?

This will sound a bit odd I think, but I just came across the name LaCroix in connection to my Polish research.
The name was apparently changed though to Cross.

Now I'm wondering if anyone knows anyone in their research whose name was Joseph LaCroix, born in Poland, and changed name to Cross.?

I don't know if his entire family(don't know who they were --yet) changed the name or just Joseph, and have no idea why. Don't even know if he immigrated, but why else would the name change. I thought LaCroix was a French name, what was he doing in Poland.?

If anyone can help at all with suggestions or otherwise I'd be very appreciative.
Other surnames connected to Joseph LaCroix (Cross) would be
Burassa(Burrows), Kotarski, Guiles, Paquin(Perkins)

Places: Poland, MA-USA, and who knows where else.

Thanks again
Barbara
