My grandfather was August Lachman, Born in Volhynia, Poland in 1865. He and his wife Lydia(nee Werner) and their (at that time) 3 children immigrated to Alberta, Canada in 1900.
It is my understanding thatall of August's siblings, immigrated to the USA at that time. August being the only one to come to Canada, joining members of His Wife's family.August and two of Lydia's brothers took up homesteading in Hay Lakes,a small community 40 miles S/E of Edmonton. They went on to have five sons in all, each of whom went on to become farm owners in the area, married and raised their families. We,the offspring of the sons, have mostly scattered and gone on to other things. But I still have a couple of cousins carrying on the farming tradition in the ares.
