Louis LaChappelle & Candace Matte - Georgina Twp.

Hello, I was in St.Joseph's RC Church yesterday searching for my g-g-g-grandparents and I came across the marriage record for Joseph Matte and Margaret Lawson. It listed Joseph's parents as Joseph Matte and Candice LaLonde.
So, they were my g-g-g-grandparents.Then it struck me that the name Candice (spelled many different ways in may different sources) looked familiar.I looked through my papers and computer files and found 1861, 1871, 1881 census.Candice was living with a Jane Armstrong whom I assumed to be her daughter.Janes maiden name(I'm guessing) would be Matte, why else would Candice Matte be living there as a widow? Then another file shows Candice LaChapelle living with her husband Louis LaChapelle. From baptism records found at the church, I know that Candice LaChapelle was Candice Matte (jr). So, I'm guessing that Candice (Lalonde) Matte had at least 3 children:
Jane (Matte)Armstrong
Candice (Matte) LaChapelle
Joseph Matte (my g-g-grandfather)
There are by-the-way a TONNE of LaChapelle names in the St.Joseph's/St.Anthony's parish records. You can't see the originals, but they are all on microfilm at the Toronto Archdiosese.I've only discovered the link of LaChapelle with Matte yesterday, so this is all I've worked out so far.Once I get it all down on paper and making sense and verified, I'll let ya know!
I live in Georgina and I'm smack-dab in the middle of all the history I'm researching.I've found that I'm related to just about everyone in town!(Good thing my boyfriend isn't from around her) ha ha!I live like 3 minutes from the cemetary where all these people I'm looking up are buried.
Anyhoo....
I have Louis jr.'s baptism record:
Louis born: Aug.23 1861 birthplace:Georgina
baptised: Sept. 29
Father: Louis LaChapelle birthplace:Canada
Mother:Candice Matte birthplace Georgina
Sponsors:Pierre Perrault (record reads 'Parent' as last name, but I'm assuming the priest wrote what he heard and he must have been half deaf.I've come across many 'Parent' surnames and at least half of them I recognize as people that most definatley have the surname 'Perrault'.So, if you do go to the Archdiosese, 'Parent' is actually 'Perrault'.) and Mary LaLonde.
So... (I'm also related to Perrault) It's a wonder I wasn't born with flippers and a tail! :)
Bonnie Haas posted a reply that wonders about Thompson, I'm not sure of that particular Thompson, but Joseph Matte jr., his wife Margaret Lawson's mother was Mary Thompson.Sick.
Now, Bonnie Swarbrick posted a reply that mentions the name Proulx.I saw that name in the baptism register as well:
Jean Baptiste Proulx.I wondered what a strange name, Proulx. As it was written in the place where all the entries only had the first name, strange that this surname would be written there.Anyhoo, I don't know if it means anything, but here's what I have:
Jean Baptiste Proulx born: Oct 22 1861 in Greenwood
baptised Dec.8
Father: Louis Carolan (<--that's what it looked like, but I can't be sure that that's what the surname actually is.The writing get's a bit wonky on some of these entries). born: Ireland
Mother: Catherine Laviolette born: Penetanguishine
Sponsors: Pierre Laviolette and Julia Laviolette
(Pierre and Julia were my dad's mom's mom's parents.)
Anyhoo, the store mentioned that your mom remembers in Sutton was likely Chapelle's gas station, it's on Dalton Rd. near High St. (yes, it's still there) when you go inside, there's pictures on the wall of the old "Chapelle's"
So, that's what I know, so far.
