Not sure if any of this helps, but my Dad, Vincent John Paul Lacaille was born in Magog, PQ to Felix Lacaille.

I am not sure I agree with the association between Caille and Caillé as they are two different words. Caille==Quail and Caillé (there is another speeling without the é) which means curd (cheese curd).

I believe the Lacaille name (De La Caille, you can see references to a 17th century astronomer by than name) comes from a small town in France called Caille...
