Pat, You are also the closest person I have found to my ancestors.Your grandfather James (if I am looking at the correct years, etc.) had a brother Charles and sisters Amy (the only female of a long history of Amie's) and Laura. Charles married Clara Howarth, which would be my great grandparents. Your grandpa James also had another sibling, but I don't know anything more about him/her. Henry (Amie) was from Louisville, Quebec. The family 'story' goes: Amie (Henri)was abandoned as a young boy and was taken in by a logging camp. I have also heard that Amie left his family. Either way, he worked in the logging camp. He canoed his way south. I don't know if he travelled a river or Superior before or after he was in the logging camp. A while back I did some research through a web site in Quebec. I found an Amie LesCardes (possible different spelling since it was some time since I found the information) that had a 'not so perfect' past and escaped from a Quebec prison. There have been several of my relatives that have tried to find the past of Henri (Amie) but have come up with nothing. Some have even gone to Quebec to search the family name and didn't get very far. I do have a copy of a baptism and marriage license in keeping. I believe the marriage lisence is for Amie Les Cardes. I will do some more research. Some other of my relatives, which would be your cousins: Harold, Lily, Margarett, Lester, Amie, Rosebud, Pat. Do any of these names sound familiar? Please keep in touch.
