I do not know whether or not your Labatte is one of the French Settlement at Youghal, County Cork, Ireland? In 1693, about fifty French Huguenots who were retired military officers and soldiers, following the war of 1689 - 1691, were invited to settle in Youghal by the mayor and corporation of the town. Interestingly, some of those names persist in Ireland but many came to the new world in the early 1700's and remained Loyalists. Many, then, went to Canada when the Revolution broke out. Have a bit more info.
