James R. Bird and Sarah Ann Gaar Bird are buried in the New Hope Cemetery in Winn Parish. New Hope and Gaar Cemetery are the same. Unfortunately, the tombstone transcriptions for New Hope have not yet been posted online in the Winn Parish archives. There is a J. T. Young b. 2/6/1848 d. 9/15/1911 also buried in New Hope. This information came from a list of burial sites of Civil War Veterans. This is probably your Joel Young.

If you haven't been to the Winn Parish web site address is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~lawinn/

Sarah Ann Gaar Bird's obituary is in the archives there. There is a transcription of the older cemeteries - "Briley's Memorial History & Cemetery Directory of Winn Parish" copyrighted 1966 by Mrs. Ida Martin Briley.
The Winn Parish people are very helpful - if you post a query on the Winn Parish list, LAWINN-L@rootsweb.com, someone will probably know the answer to your questions.
