Angola prison guard death, abt. 1927

My grandfather's younger brother was killed with his own gun while guarding Angola prisoners who was shoring up the river levee during the flood of 1927. I have been unable to find record of his death. Will welcome any constructive suggestions. Have been unable to commucicate with prison officials regarding his death.
