James Foley-1808, William Francis Foley-1842

I am searching for any info about my great-great grandfather, William Francis Foley. He enlisted in the Civil War in Washington Parish, LA in 1861. I have found a record of James Foley and family who arrived in the USA on Aug. 28, 1848 aboard the Helen Augusta (from Liverpool). James Foley was 40 (born in 1808), his wife's name is not listed but she is 35. The children are: Patrick-14, Mary-12, Daniel-11, Ann-8, William-6, and John-<1.
The year this ship arrived matches with our oral family history of when William Francis Foley arrived with his family from Ireland. After the war he returned to Louisiana and could find no trace of his family. I have speculated they either moved or died of fever.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been blocked at this relative for many years and would like to get past him to Ireland!
